The 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser is available both as a sedan and a convertible. The sedan comes in four trim levels, the base, the Touring, the Limited and the GT trim. The convertible dispenses the Limited trim but retains the other three. All trims are fitted with a 2.4-liter, twin-cam four-cylinder engine capable of delivering 150 horse kicks. It is matched to a standard five-speed manual transmission and a four-speed automatic is optional.

The Touring and Limited trims have the 180 horsepower version of the 2.4 liter engine as an available option while the 220 horsepower supercharge alternative is standard on the GT trim. Taking the optional engines includes the four-speed automatic transmission for the Touring and Limited trims and a heavyweight 5-speed manual transaxle or the optional four-speed automatic for the GT.
